“To the Residents and Voters of St. Helena Parish:

This October you will have an opportunity to elect a new Sheriff. I write to offer my endorsement for Clay Chutz, who has decided to run for the office. I have known Clay for many years. My father was Governor Edwin W. Edwards, and after his election in 1991, Clay received a posting at the Louisiana Governor’s Mansion as a relatively new Louisiana State Trooper. He performed his duties with an attention to detail and dedication that is rare these days.

Clay was born in St. Helena Parish and his entire life has been spent in or near the Parish. He knows the people and what they expect of a law enforcement officer. The law enforcement system of our State would be well-served with Clay as Sheriff.

I know how much my father respected and admired Clay. I also know that if he was still alive, he would endorse Clay’s candidacy. In fact, on behalf of the Edwin Edwards family, I wholeheartedly offer my support and endorsement to Clay Chutz. He will serve the Parish with integrity and unparalleled commitment to its citizens as its newly elected Sheriff.”
